Knowing how to properly apply false eyelashes is a life skill in itself. False eyelash extensions can elevate any makeup look and take you from day-to-night. While most commonly worn for nights-out and special occasions, if you find the perfect style of lashes, then you can wear them daily. Wearing false eyelash extensions require a little more skill than just applying mascara. To help you along the way, we have put together a how-to guide for applying false eyelash extensions for beginners.
1. Choose Your Lashes & Lash Glue
The first thing you need is to get your supplies together. You’ll need your false lashes, eyelash glue, tweezers and a small pair of scissors. We recommend our faux 3D eyelash extensions as the perfect beginner pair to get you used to applying false eyelash extensions. For the best eyelash glue for sensitive eyes, we suggest the waterproof lash adhesive, that can hold your lashes for over 24 hours.
2. Trim Your Lashes
Compare the strip of your false eyelashes to your eyelid and trim off any excess so that they fit your eye-shape perfectly. Your false eyelash extension strip should begin where the bulk of your natural eyelashes start and should end just a few lashes before the end of your natural eyelashes. To compare your false eyelashes to your natural lashes, we recommend using a tweezer to hold the false eyelash extensions above your lash line to get the most accurate comparison.
Make sure to trim your false eyelash extensions at the outside edge.
3. Apply Your Eyelash Glue
Applying eyelash glue is one of the trickiest parts of the process. Apply your lash adhesive to the strip of your false eyelash extensions in a thin layer across the full band using the glue applicator or a cotton bud. Wait for 30 seconds to allow the glue to become tacky before you start applying the lashes. Holding the lashes with the tweezers will help you keep them steady while adding the lash adhesive.
4. Use a Mirror For Easy Application
You want to get your false eyelash extensions as close to your lash line as possible to get a natural look. Similarly, to what would you do when applying mascara, you should hold a mirror downwards at an angle to give you a better line of sight. Using tweezers can help you place your false eyelash extensions, and help you adjust them as needed.
Hold the false eyelashes by the corner using the tweezers, or your fingers if you feel more confident, to place them close to, but not directly onto, your natural lashes. Use the tweezers to press down against the center and corners of the lashes to put them into place.
5. Don’t Forget Mascara & Eyeliner
Using mascara will help bond your false eyelash extensions and natural eyelashes together. The trick to getting your false eyelashes to look as natural as possible is to finish off your look with eyeliner to find the strip of your false lashes and to pull your look together.
